I'm not sure if it is related with this. I got a Laptop with amd graphics, Radeon HD 4200 and a discrete Radeon HD 5650 (both mobility).
Lightdm does not load with the default configuration (with discrete graphics ON) but it start with the integrated graphics. I have switcheroo configured to turn off de discrete graphics in rc.local so when it boots it does not load Lightdm because rc.local goes after lightdm load, so I have to enter start lightdm in a tty in order to load it.
