THIS IS NOT A BUG. Behavior was changed in 2.6.20. In order to support cards based on the cx2388x pci bridge containing multiple sources for use of the mpeg port, cx88-dvb and cx88-blackbird were converted to sub-modules of the cx8802 mpeg port driver manager. The HVR1300 is an example of a card that needed this change, since it has both a DVB-T demod and a hardware analog video mpeg encoder, both sharing the :8802 port. Autoloading functionality of cx88-dvb and cx88-blackbird was removed from 2.6.20. New code was added to enable this autoloading feature in 2.6.21, but was too risky of a change to apply to 2.6.20 at the time of its introduction.
If the Ubuntu guys ask for it, I can backport this cx8802 sub-module autoload patch to 2.6.20, although personally, I dont think it's worth it.
