There seems to be some correlation with noisy environments, i.e. lots of
neighbour networks on the same or adjacent channel. The situation
improves dramatically when changing to a different channel with fewer
networks.

However, as mentioned above, other devices like Android phones or
Macboocs don't exhibit this problem, so it must be driver related isn't
caused by the AP only.
