Final Question:
To keep old programs you grow fond of, how should Synaptic and Update Manager
be set so it never uninstalls programs?
In other words, Update Manager, 5 tabs. which boxes should be checked/unchecked?
Synaptic: under Prefs, 6 tabs. Any boxes or value settings you might suggest
to preserve this 'pristine' install?
NOTE: Seemed Linux kernel upgrades always F'd OS up and trashed graphics
drivers.
Had to reinstall nVidia drivers every time. Kept copy in /home folder as
backup. I got so used to it, it became routine. :-)
