Public bug reported: I have ubuntu feisty installed on this new machine, and have run into alot of issues with it. Firstly, the graphics controller (with latest nvidia proprietary drivers) is underperforming, and often crashes the system completely, total lockup of mouse etc when in use (eg by beryl). It can't resume from suspend, and will not work at all (can't enable display in X or terminal) if usplash is running during boot. Secondly, the CD drive is not detected, and isn't allocated in /dev/ as anything. It loaded the livecd off it, so I don't see why this should be a problem. When the computer totally locks up, no log file seems to take note of anything out of the ordinary except that it had just detected the CDRom and was trying to do something with it. Sorry to not be more specific, but i'm not much of a techie, any help would be appreciated, my only hope atm seems to be upgrading my kernel.
