You might be correct, the default package for Ubuntu 12.10 and the likes (Mint) is indeed Version: 2.9.0-1ubuntu2. But there are no updates in the most modern of repos, which seems weird considering this bug is a show-stopper.
Anyhow, looking for the nighly PPA or updates PPA or Team FUSE or anything, I can not find a source of a more updated version.
