I get the same error message ("BUG: soft lockup detected on CPU#0!") on my
laptop (with 1.GHz Intel Celeron Mobile processor). I've tried to use my PCMCIA
WLAN card. There's no AMD AM1772 (netam772) driver for Linux, so I tried the
Windows drivers using with ndiswrapper (1.38) on Feisty (kernel:
2.6.20-16-generic). The XP and W2k drivers gave the "BUG: soft lockup detected
on CPU#0!" error message after "sudo modprobe ndiswrapper". The W98 and ME
drivers has been working for 5-10 minutes then gave these endless error
messages:
[numbers..] ndiswrapper (NdisWriteErrorLogEntry: 231): log: C000138D: count: 3,
return address: f0114ac5
[same numbers] ndiswrapper (NdisWriteErrorLogEntry: 234): code: 0x0
[same numbers] ndiswrapper (NdisWriteErrorLogEntry: 234): code: 0x3
