Public bug reported:

This appears to be the same as a bug reported on Debian
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=697139 (same line of
code) but this report may provide extra information as the stack trace
is somewhat different and this is on a 64-bit architecture, whereas that
was on a 32-bit machine.

Description:    Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS

$ cat /etc/issue /proc/version_signature /proc/version
Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS \n \l

Ubuntu 3.2.0-35.55-generic 3.2.34
Linux version 3.2.0-35-generic (buildd@allspice) (gcc version 4.6.3
(Ubuntu/Linaro 4.6.3-1ubuntu5) ) #55-Ubuntu SMP Wed Dec 5 17:42:16 UTC 2012

The system has 2Gb of RAM, and 2*1Gb swap partitions. A typical memory status
snapshot with 'free(1)' might show:
$ free
             total used free shared buffers cached
Mem:       2051484    1978080      73404          0      12864     238292
-/+ buffers/cache:    1726924     324560
Swap:      2054264     427524    1626740

I suspect that the system was low on free RAM at the time of the crash,
but had probably used no more than 40% of the total swap space.

There's no useful information in dmesg or any of the files in /var/log,
but I've attached a photo of the crash screen.
