My bad. On gutsy, you still cannot enable dma with hdparm, but the tests look a better: /dev/sda: Timing cached reads: 768 MB in 2.00 seconds = 383.85 MB/sec Timing buffered disk reads: 84 MB in 3.04 seconds = 27.62 MB/sec
