Apparently, the package hasn't ballooned in the main archive as it's still around ~50k. I'll keep this in mind in case Xubuntu needs the space (I doubt 100k will make a difference), but at this point, I'm not going to do anything with it. The package is a Recommends, so it can be removed from one's system if one wishes.
