A simple workaround for this card is to lower the color depth to 16 as suggested in the xorg.0.log. This can be done by adding the following section to the /etc/X11/xorg.conf
Section "Screen" DefaultDepth 16 Identifier "Default Screen" EndSection Tested this with resolutions upto 1920x1080 it works fine, the reduced color depth is not noticeable on most LCD panels. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/592447 Title: X shows noise on screen (SiS 661/741- pci id 1039:6330 rev 03) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-sis/+bug/592447/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
