Public bug reported:

With Spanish keyboard I can't write accents. When I type an accent, the
cursor advances one position, like this: ´a,´e,´i not like á, é, í.

It happens in kde applications but not in gnome applications running
over kde (for example accents don't work in konsole but they work in
gnome-terminal).

The character ñ and ç works fine.

Also happens with a new user that starts for the first time kde.

Kcontrol is using this command:
setxkbmap -model pc105 -layout es -variant basic

Something similar happened to me in the breezy to dapper-devel migration
and after some upgrades, accents worked again.

** Affects: Ubuntu
     Importance: Untriaged
         Status: Unconfirmed
