So, time for meta-discussion then. I think the following applies - - if we are in UVF then uploading within ubuntu is appropriate. - We should not redirect *bug reporters* to Debian, if we decide within Ubuntu that the right way to fix a bug X is to open it in Debian, thats completely fine: *we*, the Ubuntu developer working on the fix, should open the bug in debian, and link that to the Ubuntu bug in Malone. Closing the bug in Ubuntu just because it needs to be open in Debian too is harmful for several reasons: - the existing state that has been built up about the issue is lost - the fact the bug still exists in Ubuntu is lost - you are encouraging dups to be filed. - the person that filed the bug is likely not familiar with Debian, and thus this is a negative experience for them - rather than dealing with the issue we are saying 'no, not us, go over there' - and thats unfair to the person filing the bug. -Rob -- GPG key available at: <http://www.robertcollins.net/keys.txt>. -- should enhance svn https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/122073 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
