I was brought here by the retracer. I am running 12.10 64-bit on a Samsung NP900X4C. The bug can only be reproduced with certain ISO files: - with ubuntu-12.10-desktop-i386.iso it happens every time - with ubuntu-12.04.1-dvd-amd64.iso the USB creator works perfectly first time and the resulting flash drive boots perfectly into 12.04, first time. Using the graphical installer from within the booted Ubuntu, that works fine too.
