I found on this webpage http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/vpnc-howto.xml that it is a problem of DNS Masquerading. Although it doesn't work for me (possibly because Gentoo is different from Ubuntu), is there a way of solving this problem in some way? I am sure some changes in the shell scripts that configure the tunnel as the default gateway can be done? Can't we use the user's terminal as a DNS server and then route traffic meant for VPN through the tunnel and the rest through the default gateway? Also, can we modify the code that adds and removes gateways to make it just add one more gateway and not remove the others entirely? If you notice the bug report and the forums, this is one of the most important reasons why people prefer Microsoft to Linux. I am sure, Linux has the ability to beat Microsoft. Kindly give this a try. Solving this problem will bring Ubuntu many more customers in the future.
