Perhaps what I'm seeing in bug 1077639 is a duplicate of this bug ? Text rendering issues have been present for me in both Ubuntu 12.04 and now in Ubuntu 12.10 using nvidia drivers. Emacs is the worst affected of all applications I use regularly. There are also some occasional glitches in gnome-terminal.
