This printer bug is no longer a problem for me. I have since successfully upgraded to Ubuntu 7.4, and now I am no longer getting this problem with the printer. I can now use a network printer.
As to why I was unable to tell what version of Ubuntu I had, I think I know that now. I started to update Ubuntu, using Update Manager, then I left my computer, and came back a few hours later. I saw a message saying my system is up-to-date, so I thought this meant that my system had just been upgraded. The message was not actually true. So thats a bug. It failed to say that a new version was available. I have seen it written, elsewhere in this bug system, that this failure to update Ubuntu can happen when the update server is down for scheduled maintenance. For the server to be unavailable sometimes is ok, but there needs to be a proper error-message saying that this is what the situation is. -- Can't print to the Network Printer. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/123668 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
