Public bug reported: I did a fresh install of Kubuntu 12.10 from DVD. After booting, grub surfaced an error message "file not found", and a "rescue" prompt. I googled for a fix, and ran boot-repair per instructions here: http://askubuntu.com/questions/187862/after-update-get-error-file-not- found-followed-by-grub-rescue
I do have four hard drives, and it looks a lot like the installer put the boot config somewhere that grub did not expect it to be. However, if boot-repair can fix it, the installer should be smarter out of the box and ensure that boot is possible. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1088212 Title: Installer misconfigures grub configuration To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1088212/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
