FAI seems to have been packaged almost if not since the beginning of Ubuntu, 
see:

These are under the universe component, please read universe in:
http://www.ubuntu.com/community/ubuntustory/components

To be able to get those software in universe, you used to have to enable them, 
please read:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Repositories
but I am pretty sure Universe is now selected by default.
