Public bug reported:
For testing purposes I had multiple input methods installed. When I set
e.g. fcitx or scim in ~/.xinputrc, they did not start. Instead I noticed
that the uim-xim daemon was running (but without any icon in the menu
bar - don't know if there is supposed to be an icon for uim).
After I had removed the uim related files, other input methods started
as expected.
