Want to Confirm the brick bug. My case was: install Ubuntu 12.10 x64 aside Windows 8 and dualBoot
Disabled UEFI -> install ubuntu -> reboot -> windows -> set boot options in windows -> made error in boot options -> Bios -> changed UEFI to enabled -> reboot -> ubuntu error -> brick; Also as Off topic i want to tell you that my samsung series 5 did not heal itself after reseting cmos...
