Compiz seems to render excellent desktop effect, but is highly broken:

1. Many windows appear only black. This can happen with even windows that were
appearing normal just a while back. If you minimize and unminimize it back, it
may or may not appear black!!
2. Videos can't be viewed full-screen. The video will either be fully black or
crash completely or generates an error related to display.
3. Video players crash without output. I tried fixing this by changing the XV
settings etc., but it is of no use at all.

Clearly, this has nothing to do with hardware and is surely only a
software issue. Please fix this early. You are leaving an excellent
feature with bugs in Linux. This is the greatest disservice. Microsoft
will get ideas and implement it bug-free!! Compiz if implemented
properly has the potential to kill Microsoft's monopoly completely. It's
amazing graphic rendering and intuitive desktop can be an amazing eye-
catch. In fact, it has already become a favorite with iMac users. Just
don't leave it with bugs please.
