Public bug reported:

When I stick in my USB MP3 player (CMX MP3 805), it is mounted read-
only. However, in case that I enable the hardware write-lock it is
mounted as read/write and produces I/O errors when writing. I.e. it is
mounted exactly reversely - ro without hardware write lock and rw with
hardware write lock.

However, the system recognizes the write lock status correctly:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ dmesg | tail -n4
[ 9031.661027] SCSI device sda: 4085248 512-byte hdwr sectors (2092 MB)
[ 9031.662186] sda: Write Protect is off
[ 9031.662190] sda: Mode Sense: 03 00 00 00
[ 9031.662193] sda: assuming drive cache: write through
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ mount | grep sda
/dev/sda1 on /media/disk type vfat
(ro,nosuid,nodev,shortname=mixed,uid=1000,utf8,umask=077)

Ubuntu 6.10 i386
