Then either hda or hdc does not get initiated correctly. I use Ubuntu 6.06.1 LTS on an AMD64: #uname -a Linux parkour.ath.cx 2.6.20.1 #1 Fri Mar 2 21:47:39 CET 2007 x86_64 GNU/Linux Since it works sometimes and sometimes not i suspect an hardware error? Maybe i'll try another mainboard. I think i have had the problem as well when i plugged in the two hard disks into one IDE port as master and slave (hda and hdb). If more information is needed i can probably help out.
