Update: Problem exists in both 3.0.0-14 (r8169, srcversion 91BDC1109C31F7EEF7E9783) and 3.2.0-33 (r8169 srcversion 9D0C5665854F93A6EC31CC8) x86_64.

Doing the following will "permanent" the gigabit speed, even between suspend- and resume cycles. # ethtool -s eth0 speed 1000 duplex full autoneg on It never fell back to 100 Mbit until the machine was restarted because of a kernel update.
