My plans for Raring are to patch the CUPS daemon to dynamically create queues to remote printers which are broadcasted via Bonjour, making CUPS behaving as before for the end user, but using Bonjour as broadcasting protocol. See

This extra daemon would eliminate the need of submitting any patch to CUPS upstream and carrying it as distro patch if upstream reject it.
