No. Everything works fine with the drivers shipped with Ubuntu by
default. The only issue is my laptop runs very hot and the battery only
lasts about 1 hour. In 12.04 this was solved by installing the
additional drivers supplied within Ubuntu.

I did this:

1. Installed fglrx through "Additional Drivers"
2. Rebooted. Unity is missing.
3. Entered terminal through Ctrl+Alt+T and typed "DISPLAY=:0 compiz --replace"
4. Removed my battery and rebooted as I saw no other option to reboot since I 
no longer could enter into term
5. Am now in low-graphics mode
