I am having the same problem copying large directories with many files
from a Win2003Server samba share to my desktop. Worked fine on 11.04 and
11.10, but not on 12.04 or 12.10. Was happy to see 12.10 release as I
wanted this problem fixed, but still there. Couldn't find any other
mention of it in the forums. Sorry to say, I'm still stuck using an old
laptop with reliable 11.04 to accomplish the server backup. File
transfer is identical to Alessandro. Hangs quickly or almost gets to
finish. Starts out quickly then just peters out and hangs. No error
messages. Have to reboot to get out of the transfer Nautilus thinks it's
performing. Cancel has so effect. Running on a 1000/100 ether lan with
mostly (16) windows vista machines, 5 XP, 4 win7, 5 OSx, and 4 Ubuntu
boxes. I can dual-boot into XP and have no problem, so that removes any
faulty hardware. If anyone has an idea... I'm all ears. Thanks, Bud
