The Ghostery extension adds a "Ghostery" item to Firefox's Tools menu,
providing a submenu for extension-specific functionality. For example,
in Ubuntu 10.04.4 LTS using the GNOME 2 desktop, a user can enter the
keyboard sequence Alt+T G L to quickly navigate to the Block Log screen.
Upgrading to Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS with Unity breaks this: Alt-T still
works, but the G does nothing. Several down-arrow plus a right-arrow
keystroke are now required where a single letter previously sufficed.
Disabling Global Menu Bar integration restores the expected behavior.

With Ghostery versions through 2.8.3, the "G" in Ghostery is not
underlined. Modifying ghostery.xul to add an accesskey="G" attribute
corrects the visual appearance, but the keyboard sequence still doesn't
work. Alt+T G shows the submenu, but none of its items are underlined,
and the final keystroke has no effect. Pressing right-arrow activates
the items. Curiously, the second time you try entering Alt+T G L,
everything works as expected.

Why don't "implied" access keys work?
Why doesn't the submenu receive focus the first time?

Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS

Firefox 16.0.2
