Public bug reported:

I brought yesterday a new laptop, a Toshiba Satellite L850-1HZ and I was
very desapointed when, after hours downloading Ubuntu images (first LTS
edition, then 12.10), it fails to work correctly, even after adding a
pair of extra settings for kernel on GRUB.

I can substitute the computer by a different one but I'd like to know
first if there's anything I can do to make this work. My tests were
exclusively made using a "live" version stored on an USB stick once, if
needed, I've to return the machine in the same state I received.

Best regards,

Manuel Silva
