Bernd,

Sorry to say, but it seems like you are getting emotional. Please try to
leave that out of the discussion. Remember that you have chosen yourself
to deviate from the default behavior of installing recommends. I think
the maintainer has shown a valid reasoning to set up the packaging as he
has done. You may not like it, or maybe you (would) do it differently
yourself, but (at least to me) you have not shown yet how things really
don't work.

The Debian maintainer has agreed that the error messages are valid bugs,
he has put them in upstream (lazurus) bug tracking system and has agreed
he will fix them there.

The Debian maintainer still disagrees with you. I have purged all
lazarus packages myself and run as you said (after disabling installing
recommends). I did indeed get initial error messages, but as the
maintainer already predicted, I could run lazarus without further issue.

Several remarks
- as far as I can see, the Debian maintainer is also part of the Lazurus
upstream team and he seems to fix issues directly in the Lazarus source,
so the accusation in your initial report seems not valid.
- the Debian maintainer does not read Ubuntu bugs, and has told
explicitly that he is not interested in supporting Ubuntu more than were
bugs are also present in the Debian package. So I will try to do my best
and forward bugs where needed. Others can do the same.
- I asked about lazarus 1.0 (an other launchpad bug) and he promised to
put his work for 1.0 in the VCS of the debian packaging. I will look
into providing an Ubuntu package for it.
