TH Tan, thank you for your comments. Regarding them https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1073442/comments/47 : >"after installing http://releases.ubuntu.com/lucid/ I can't access the >internet. Same ADSL modem with the same hardware setup nothing is changed. >Here is my alternate work around as stated below paragraphs. I remember I do >not need to do anything but leave the ADSL modem to be on to access internet. >Please advice if you know what is wrong."
Seems like the Lucid ethernet driver for your hardware is not working out. >"Is it ok I downloaded http://releases.ubuntu.com/precise/ and checked whether can I reboot without the screen going blank first? If no blank screen after reboot then I will proceed to do your post #46 to isolate which KernelMainlineBuild is causing the problem." Since the ethernet driver does not seem to work in Lucid, it would be helpful if we could find a release where both the ethernet works, and your computer does not have the blank screen problem. Could you please test for this in Precise via http://releases.ubuntu.com/precise/ ? >"If blank screen again after reboot, I will download http://releases.ubuntu.com/oneiric/ and checked whether can I reboot without the screen going blank again? If no blank screen after reboot then I will proceed to do your post #46 to isolate which KernelMainlineBuild is causing the problem." If the Precise release does not have working ethernet, or has the will not boot problem, could you please test Oneiric?
