It is now showing the crash notifier even though those files have been removed.
** Description changed: When I start mypaint in Kubuntu 12.04, a crash notifier appears saying that mypaint has crashed even though it is still running. I did a search on the Internet and came across this page: - http://news.softpedia.com/news/How-to-Fix-the-Big-and-Ugly-Plymouth-Logo-in-Ubuntu-10-04-140810.shtml + http://forum.intilinux.com/mypaint-help-and-tips/%28kubuntu-linux%29-mypaint-crashes-immediately-after-launch/ If I remove the files mamurk_b_1.png & mamurk_b_2.png from /usr/share/mypaint/backgrounds/mrmamurk mypaint will now launch without crashing.
