Public bug reported:

It used to be that the application lens was first in the list of results
--- it's still there, but apparently second in the list. Regardless, it
never provides results - "gimp," "synaptic," whatever. It doesn't work
if the daemon is running, nor if I restart the daemon. When I tried
"unity --reset" that did the trick -- however, upon reboot, it still
won't work.
