@Rob That solution I suggested doesn't at all implies you should have 2-factor auth. All 2-factor auth options were between brackets. What I think happened is that before, online-accounts stored your raw password and now works by giving itself access via the default Google Auth API. So people with 2-factor auth give this permission another way that people without do.
