I just wanted to chime in here. I also am on a fully updated 12.10 (x64)
installation and am experiencing the above issue of no menu bar when
opening a document (in my case locally).
If I open up a second calc window that window has the menu on it, but
unlike the original poster switching back to the "bad" window does not
make the menu come back.
