Looks like the default color scheme changed with Kubuntu 12.10. I was seeing the same problem in Firefox and Chrome. To fix it, I went to "KDE System Settings/Application Appearance/Colors" and applied a new color scheme. If you do that, and then return to the default (Oxygen, probably), all should be well.
