The Trio64 does accept 24-bit. And I know b/c in the high school there was a compaq presario with that video card and both RedHat 7 and Windoze 95 OSR2 were configured to that color depth. Your problem is that M$ V$PC tangles the emulated videocard intentionally to thwart any atempt of installing linux on it. Your only solutions are VMware or Qemu.
