I found a workaround: In a similar gentoo bug report (http://bot24.blogspot.co.at/2012/07/gentoo-bug-426494-net-printhplip-3126.html) it was suggested to downgrade hplip to 3.12.4. I used the following packages from precise-update (hplip 3.12.2):
hpijs_3.12.2-1ubuntu3.1_all.deb hpijs-ppds_3.12.2-1ubuntu3.1_all.deb hplip_3.12.2-1ubuntu3.1_amd64.deb hplip-cups_3.12.2-1ubuntu3.1_all.deb hplip-data_3.12.2-1ubuntu3.1_all.deb hplip-gui_3.12.2-1ubuntu3.1_all.deb libhpmud0_3.12.2-1ubuntu3.1_amd64.deb libsane-hpaio_3.12.2-1ubuntu3.1_amd64.deb printer-driver-hpcups_3.12.2-1ubuntu3.1_amd64.deb printer-driver-hpijs_3.12.2-1ubuntu3.1_amd64.deb printer-driver-postscript-hp_3.12.2-1ubuntu3.1_all.deb After installing them, removing the printer, and reinstalling it via hp- toolbox (following the onscreen suggestions), my scanner is working again. Of course this is only a workaround and not a solution, but maybe it narrows down the problem. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1057601 Title: scanner not found since update To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/hplip/+bug/1057601/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
