Public bug reported: I have, in Feisty, installed sun-java6, eclipse, and tomcat 5.5, all from the official Ubuntu repository.
The problem comes when I want to create a new "Dynamic Web Project". First you have to set up a "target runtime". I want to choose tomcat 5.5 of course. If I try to add a tomcat 5.5 runtime, eclipse tells me that the selected directory (/usr/share/tomcat5.5) is not a valid tomcat installation. Exact errormessage: "The Tomcat installation directory is not correct. It does not point to a valid Tomcat installation." Other people have the same bug with other distros as well: http://www.eclipsezone.com/eclipse/forums/t23023.html http://forum.exadel.com/viewtopic.php?p=17874 http://www.sabayonlinux.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7894 When I download and extract tomcat manually into a directory on my disk, and point eclipse to it, it accepts it. So I guess there is a packaging problem with the tomcat5.5 packages in Feisty. ** Affects: eclipse (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Eclipse can not see tomcat installation https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/123865 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
