We are mixing deluser and userdel. :-) userdel is from shadow package and deluser is from adduser. Adduser contains just bunch of scripts for dealing with useradd and userdel.
userdel has in manual note that I've posted before, but deluser does not have. I actually do not know how patching works (do I have to post patch on current version in CVS/SVN/... or can I just post little patch on "installed" version?), soo I'll just post little patch on current version installed on my system (adduser version 3.100).
