I have tried the SD card with the Ubuntu 12.10 Beta2 running in a Wubi installation on my laptop and it works OK, the Kernel in that is 3.5.0-17.27 so if you are not getting it working with the Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS it may be worth trying again after the 12.10 is released later in this month.
