Update to comment #13 above. 1) It appears that I will need to do a complete kernel compile in order to enable CONFIG_SND_HDA_PATCH_LOADER=y if I want to try "early patching" (its not enabled by default).
2) If I boot my box with no speakers connected and after booting completes I then plug in the main "green" jack into the normal "green" plug ( i.e. front right and front left) then the sound volume is normal!! The only difference between these two scenarios reported by alsa_config.sh (besides time stamps) is < IO[0]: enable=1, dir=1, wake=0, sticky=0, data=0, unsol=0 --- > IO[0]: enable=1, dir=1, wake=0, sticky=0, data=1, unsol=0 The pin configs are the same for both situations but one has good sound volume and the other does not. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1041322 Title: Very low sound on HP p7-1227c To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/1041322/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
