With emulated devices under Xen, I still get the behaviour as before. So not locking up but taking long and leaving the COW volume behind. To have some numbers for long: from issuing the snapshot delete until the hdd stops writing a lot, it takes about 6 minutes, for the volume delete is is about 1m40.
