Reinstalling all of my mesa packages borked my DRI: $ LIBGL_DEBUG=verbose /usr/lib/nux/unity_support_test -p libGL: screen 0 does not appear to be DRI2 capable libGL: OpenDriver: trying /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/dri/tls/swrast_dri.so libGL: OpenDriver: trying /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/dri/swrast_dri.so libGL error: reverting to indirect rendering OpenGL vendor string: NVIDIA Corporation OpenGL renderer string: Quadro4 900 XGL/AGP/SSE2 OpenGL version string: 1.4 (1.5.8 NVIDIA 96.43.23)
Reinstalled 96.43.23 & got DRI (and GL vertex buffer object) back. @Flames: PEBAC? Were you trying for PEBKAC or similar? I realize what vdpau is used for. However: $ apt-cache depends mplayer | grep libvdpau Depends: libvdpau1 @giardia: libvdpau1 error now appears on the 96.43.23 that I did. This is due to reinstalling libvdpau1 before the reintall: $ cat /var/log/nvidia-installer.log |grep libGL /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/mesa/libGL.so.1 -> libGL.so.1.2 (File WARNING: Unable to restore symbolic link /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/mesa/libGL.so -> libGL.so.1 (File exists). WARNING: Unable to restore symbolic link /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libGL.so -> mesa/libGL.so (File exists). Also reinstalled libvdpau1 to get mplayer working again.
