Public bug reported: I upgraded to the latest libvirt which breaks itself - it doesn't create the socket for virsh to connect to.
Neither does it look to actually be running - root@cmp02:/var/run/libvirt# /etc/init.d/libvirt-bin status Rather than invoking init scripts through /etc/init.d, use the service(8) utility, e.g. service libvirt-bin status Since the script you are attempting to invoke has been converted to an Upstart job, you may also use the status(8) utility, e.g. status libvirt-bin libvirt-bin start/running root@cmp02:/var/run/libvirt# ps -ef | grep libvirt root 12648 3075 0 12:58 pts/1 00:00:00 grep --color=auto libvirt # Packages http://paste.ubuntu.com/1255838/ ### FILE /etc/libvirt/libvirt.conf ### http://paste.ubuntu.com/1255846/ ### FILE /etc/default/libvirt-bin ### http://paste.ubuntu.com/1255847/ ### FILE /etc/init/libvirt-bin.conf ### http://paste.ubuntu.com/1255848/ ** Affects: libvirt (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1060175 Title: Libvirt not creating sockets anymore.
