There is an effort to make hotkeys work on all Sony Vaio models that use ACPI at http://tjworld.net/snc/ . If your model isn't listed yet, please follow the instructions on http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=465491 and submit your BIOS and ACPI data.
