Hi, so I tested 3.5.2 again (http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel- ppa/mainline/v3.5.2-quantal/) and it didn't work for me. So I don't think this is a Ubuntu specific problem. I would think it has more to do with the "race condition" that @Dassburger is suggesting.
