  When I lock my screen, instead of the monitor going, black, the desktop
  background goes black, but the Unity launcher and the main bar stay
  visible.  When I press a key or move my mouse the "unlock" dialog,
  asking me for my password pops up, centered on the black desktop
  background.
  
  I think the main issue here is gnome-screensaver failing to fullscreen.
