Kevin, Christopher, Many older STAC codecs have the oddity that when you set the hardware volume to its lowest value, the result is muting instead of the expected -48 dB. It looks like this oddity is being indicated correctly in the kernel driver, but the information is not adhered to in higher layers (alsa-lib, pulseaudio).
As such, I doubt testing different kernel drivers will help, but if so, https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Audio/UpgradingAlsa/DKMS is the best way of doing so as it contains the latest upstream fixes for HDA codecs. But it seems more likely to me that the problem is within alsa-lib or pulseaudio. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/429844 Title: audio level between 0 and 20% not output To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/429844/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
